Fine Art and Handmade Crafts in the Northeast Kingdom

Now starting their third decade as a united venue, the Northeast Kingdom Artisans Guild now features works handcrafted by more than 100 juried artisans and makers from Vermont.  Jewelry, glass, painting, metal, paper, and wood are just a few of the many different facets of these new and traditional crafts. Located in St. Johnsbury's downtown Historical District, the Artisan's Guild also boasts an exhibition space, the Back Room Gallery, which displays solo and collaborative art exhibitions that change every six weeks.

The Back Room Gallery has on display through July "Water is Life." The group show features work by the Northeast Kingdom's finest artisans, all centered around the theme of water and its life-giving and sustaining properties. Shop original jewelry, like Lucy Golden's Whirlpool Necklace and Raindrop Earrings, or buy a painting to hang on the wall that commemorates your trip to the Kingdom.

Take an afternoon to visit St. Johnsbury's Historical District and admire the Victorian architecture as well as notable landmarks like the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium, and the old Train Station. Keep your eye out for the purple awning at 430 Railroad Street, where you will find the Artisans Guild.

The store and gallery are open six days a week, 10:30AM-5:30PM Monday-Saturday. To find out more information and view a list of exhibitors, visit the Northeast Kingdom Artisans Guild website.
