Tour the Northeast Kingdom on Horseback

Fall is the perfect time to visit Vermont’s rolling hills, forested valleys, and unbelievable vistas. It’s even better to do it on horseback as you journey along backroad paths and grass fields instead of paved roads and highways. At D-N-D Stables, autumn views and the peaceful off-road trails are more than just a tour of the natural landscape; it’s an experience. And it’s one that will let you truly get to know the Northeast Kingdom and all of its splendor. The guided horseback tours are small and personal, and getting to know the people of the Northeast Kingdom is just as important as getting to know its landscape and scenery. Close to the nearby Burke Mountain, D-N-D Stables has eight available horses that have provided rides for people from all over the world.

Deemed the quintessential Vermont experience by Vermont Life Magazine, DND Stables is one of the best ways to spend your time during your stay. Catch sight of the Northeast Kingdom’s most spectacular views while you learn how to ride a horse or, if you’re already an experienced rider, just relax and enjoy the scenery.

The trails are 85% wooded and mostly travel through scenic off-road paths or grass, offering a unique perspective you’ll never see from the windows of a car. You’ll find yourself deep in the heart of the Kingdom’s dense woodland realm or across a spacious field from the imposing monument of Burke Mountain. There are a multitude of trails with access to the stables so plan to return for an entirely different perspective of the Northeast Kingdom, especially in a different season.

Rates start at $60 per person for an hour-long horse ride. Ride October 15th through November 30th for a $5.00 discount coupon you can find on the stable’s website
